WOW! This update is a little late but so worth it. Just before my first 10K, I came across a posting for a trail run at Providence Canyon, The Flatlanders Canyon Crash. I’d never done a 10k much less a 10k trail up and down a canyon, but something got me intrigued. I hit up […]
Category: Goals
My first 10k was a success.
After completing my first goal of running 6 – 5Ks, I’ve moved on to goal #2 6 10ks. I ran my first one this past weekend and it was excellent. I was super concerned about my time. I looked at last years results, and my fastest training time was still towards the low end of […]
Time for the repeat. Autumn Chase #2
I made it a full year as a runner! This is my first time doing the same race. The Autumn Chase was the first organized 5k I did in 2015, and I did it again this weekend. I didn’t set any land speed records, but I did cut 10 minutes off my time. It was […]
Goal hit. #6 is done
I hit my goal of doing 6 – 5k’s in 2016. The 6th was the Purple 5k. I signed up on a whim because the gang at Orange Theory was sponsoring it. I actually got 2nd place in my age group. It was a smaller 5k, but a great route. There was a big hill […]
5k #5 is in the books. Back on track!
My posts have been pretty sparse, I’ve had a couple of injuries that have slowed my progress. One of them was a knee issue that caused me to miss both of my obstacle courses. That said I got back on the 5k plan this weekend with the Crossroads 5k Classic. This was an awesome trail […]
Big Milestone – 75 pounds down, 25 more to go.
I hit a big milestone this weekend. I’m down 75 pounds. When I started at the end of last July, my goal was to drop 100 pounds. I didn’t set a timeline, but I was hoping to lose at least 1-2 pounds a week. I wanted to make it a realistic pace. I didn’t want to […]
Set ’em up and knock ’em down.
If you ask me, the only way to get something done is to set goals and strive for them. Goals keep you moving by giving you something to strive towards. Goals break seemingly insurmountable tasks into small little steps that can be accomplished one step at a time. Goals encourage us by demonstrating progress even […]
5k #4. Only 2 more till the 10k training starts.
This was my forth 5k. My goal was under 35:00 and I did it in 33:03! For the next one I’m going to shoot for under 30:00. I don’t think I could have made it if my girls weren’t waiting for me at the finish line. They kept me motivated the whole time.
Third 5k. 1/2 way there.
The 5k times are posted. 36:39! I know that might seem slow to some, but that’s almost a full minute faster than my goal of 37:30. To top it off, I finished in the top 1/2 of the field. Onwards and upwards. My next one is not scheduled till May. I’m hoping to cut at […]
Second 5k in the books, 4 more to go.
Second 5K is in the books. It was a night time run which was different. My official time was 38:38. Nearly 4 full minutes off my time from the end of October. My beautiful wife and my girls came out to do the 1 mile fun run and cheered me on during the 5K. It was […]
